Consultancy Services

Marcus Newhall, author of Sklo Union, Art Before Industry Marcus Newhall was born in Southern Rhodesia in 1957. He received both his degree and post-graduate diploma in Design History from Manchester Metropolitan University. Marcus speaks both Czech and French as second languages. He has been researching Czech and Slovakian glassworks since his first visit to the country in 1991. His interest in pressed glass, designed during the Communist era, was sparked by his finding of a Rudolf Jurnikl hobnail vase on Northwich market.

Marcus offers a Czech glass consultancy service. This is available to private collectors as well as glass companies, to museums and galleries, auction houses, and to higher education providers (i.e. University/College) who provide courses on glass or design history. Marcus' skills include identification of Czech glass, assistance with cataloguing glass collections, and both historical and design research.
